KIYE at Native Public Media’s Native Broadcast Summit 2022

Daniel Spaulding, KIYE FM Radio Coordinator, attended the Native Broadcast Summit that was held in person in Phoenix, Arizona April 20-22 after a long two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Summit had nearly over 60 tribal broadcasters attending from all throughout Indian Country. During this time tribal broadcasters got to connect with one another and discuss what their stations are doing to help battle through the pandemic. Native Public Media offered training and professional development to the tribal broadcasters who attended. The theme for this year’s Summit was, “Revealing the Past, Recognizing the Present, Resilient for the Future.”

The sessions that were presented discussed podcast development, Covid-19 community responses, mentoring Native youth reporters and storytellers, and more.
